Christmas Advent Calander

29 Nov

I know it has been a few days since my last post but there is a very good reason I am having problems with my computer. For some reason it has decided to stop reading my memory card. Until I have this problem fixed I will be taking photos with my phone so I do apologise for the poor quality. My other reason for not posting is that I have been flat out…there just seems to be too many things to do and not enough hours in the day!

I have however over the last few days managed to finish the advent calendar for the kids. I brought a kit from kaisercraft and then came up with my own ideas for decorating as I wanted to make something that would age well and not look out of date in a few years time.

So what do you think? I did enjoy making it and for once having my visions nearly come through. I was going to have some hanging ornaments from the centre but it did not look right. I am happy with the result and most importantly the kids just love it. They cant wait for Tuesday so they can start seeing what I have filled it with!!!!

Here is what I have used, Kaisercraft Advent Calendar kit, Kaisercraft paper, miscellaneous paints, laser cuts Christmas trees, kaisercraft wooden sleigh.

The red paint that I brought was too bright so I added a light coat of brown and white over it and then went over it with some sandpaper lightly.

The paper in the centre I have added a crackling paint and then after it dried I went over it with some brown and rubbed that it off to giver it an aged look.

I think the rest is pretty obvious as to what I have done.

Well off to a birthday party now with the kids. Hope you have all had a great weekend.

Until next time xoxo

A spoon full of sugar

25 Nov

Hello again. Today I was very excited as a parcel arrived from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps. I have been waiting for a few weeks for it to come so I could use these stamps.

So today I have joined in the A Spoon Full of Sugar challenge. The current challenge is a colour challenge. You need to use the colour brown as your base colour and then you can add blue or pink to it. I have also based my card on the layout used by the guest designer Jorunn. Her card was very pretty but I really liked her layout. When I set off making the card I thought I had some felt bird embellishments that I could use which would match my paper but when it got to the stage of pulling them out to embellish I realized that I have never actually brought them!!! Regardless of that I am happy with how my card has turned out.

So what have I used you ask! I have used my copics for colouring Charlotte, patterned paper by basic grey, cardstock chocolate chip and Kraft from Stampin Up, faux stitching, lace and brown ink for smudging.

Anyhow I better be off now I need to take Elizabeth to netball training. I hope you have all had a good day.

I will hopefully be back again tomorrow with some more.

Until next time xoxo

Going Vintage

23 Nov

I think as the cool change settled in so did my Mojo!

The card I am bringing you today is for the Anya Ink weekly challenge, which is “vintage”. I started this card yesterday afternoon when everyone was out but halfway through decided I needed some brown lace and crochet flowers so I went off on a hunt. I came up good with the lace, not exactly what I set out with in mind, but I have not been able to find the flowers. I was disappointed as the card has not come out as I envisioned but nevertheless it is still ok.  I have looked on ebay for some crochet flowers but not really what I am after so think I will have to go and get a crochet needle and some yarn and make my own. I love the flowers Nicole Heady has done and think I may give it a try. If that fails then not too sure what I will do as I have it in my head now that I want some and I want them NOW!!!! LOL.

Anyhow I have based my card on the layout from this week Friday Sketches challenge:

The patterned paper is from the Bella range which you can get at spotlight. Stamp is from the Miss Anya Dressy set, lace is from spotlight, flowers are from creative dreams and image has been coloured using my copics. I have smudged the edges of all the paper and cardstock with brown ink to give an aged effect.

I feel good this afternoon as Michael and I just about finished off the Christmas shopping today, tonight is my last night as Vice President at kinder as we have our handover meeting and tomorrow I will start with a new adventure by joining the committee for next years school festival. This is a huge event, almost a mini show so lots of work is needed.

My goodness the kids have just come home with three more party invitations between them. This is not including the two that is already sitting on the fridge. Is it just me or are kids invited to more parties these days? I can not remember going to this many as a kid.

Oh well I better be off now and start getting things ready before I head out tonight.

Until next time xoxo

Christmas cards..

22 Nov

Well we are definitely having some relief here in Melbourne from the hot weather. Thankfully we have had heavy soaking rain since last night which means hopefully our grass may survive a little longer for the year. I am feeling so much better with the change of weather that I think I will be able to create a bit more this week.

Thursday night I went and saw New Moon and absolutely loved it. I can not wait to go see it again and of course for the next installments to come out. I think I will have to download the soundtrack so can use the music as my muse.

Friday I had to take Robert to my sisters work, an orthodontics, as his bottom jaw is bigger than his top one resulting in a nasty cross bite which has caused his top teeth to be worn down. On the 17th December he will get his plate fitted and a face mask at night. The poor little might was so strong and brave even though stretching his mouth for the moulds was uncomfortable and hurt. The face mask looks very intrusive and we have tried to lighten it up a bit for him by saying wow look how cool it is but he just hid under my arms! As he is only 5 by doing this we will stop his second teeth from been worn down and hopefully prevent jaw surgery later in life.

Today Lizzie is off at a party and Michael has taken Robert to a historical Car Show, which means I have a few hours peace so after posting this I will be trying to make a card for this weeks Anya Ink challenge.

Yesterday I managed to make some Christmas cards, yey! I have done 8 of the same card which now means I have about ½ of what I need done. I wanted to do something quite basic so I picked a Mojo Monday sketch and went off on my merry way.

I have used Miss Clause from the Sugar Nellie range which you can purchase through Funky Kits for this card. I love this stamp and thought it would be good for some of my friends.

So there you have the card, basic but I think effective. I have used Stampin Up cardstock, my copics for colouring of the image, faux stitching, ribbon which I got from Kmart in the Christmas wrapping section, scallop punch from Stampin Up and Nestabilities and cuttlebug.

As I mentioned I am going to make the most of my quite time and the cooler weather and attempt the Anya Ink challenge. Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with a picture of my creation.

Until next time xoxo

Mojo Monday

18 Nov

Hello again everyone. I know I have been very lazy in the blogging world but I have really lost my Mojo. We have also had a busy week the time just seems to be going by quicker and quicker each day. Maybe it has been my own fault as I have been counting down to tomorrow night when I see New Moon. Aaahhhhh Edward LOL! I know that as a 31 year old lady I should not be so obsessed but it is such a wonderful escape.

I have been sitting down and making cards over the last couple of days but none of them were worthy enough to show you. Anyhow today I flicked over to Mojo Monday and saw their sketch and felt inspired. I ended up doing quite a basic card, as in not a lot of embellishing, and put it together in about 15 minutes plus coluring time. I like the card with the different colours and this little lady is just so cute. She reminds me of myself over the last week just sitting down and pondering about the lovely Edward!

So anyhow here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I told you she was cute. She comes from Inky Impressions. I love the details of the stamps, she even has tiny fingernails. All cardstock is from Stampin Up, whisper white, rose red, pink pirouette, sky blue and basic grey. The scallop and circle were cut using my Nestabilities from Spellbinders together with my cuttlebug. Ribbon is Sky Blue Stampin Up grosgrain ribbon. Coloring has been done using my copics. If you ever want to know what colours I use for my colouring let me know and I will happily share.

Anyhow I am off to have some dinner now. Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with something more to show you.

Until next time xoxo

My mojo is returning…

12 Nov

Two posts in one day. I think my Mojo is returning and now I have to make up for some lost time!

Recently on one of my blog surfs I came across a sketch site, Sketches by Shell. What I loved about this site is there are just some card and scrapbooking sketches for the month. The only request is that you give credit to where the sketch came from.  I remember when I saw this sketch I loved it straight away but was busy at the time so I just added it to my favorites and upon my search tonight I stumbled across it again. Anyhow here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

 100_3007

I actually like the way this card came out, the colours remind of spring, something we seemed to have skipped here in Melbourne!

I have used Leisel from the Swiss Pixies from C. C. Designs. Isn’t she cute? The cardstock is all Stampin Up, being Cool Caribbean (yes I still have some in my stash), Rose Red and Going Grey. I also used some DS Paper from Stampin Up which was in a mini last year. I used my copics for colouring and the ribbon is from the new kaisercraft grosgrain ribbon range. Scallop and circle was cut using the Nestabilities range from Spellbinders. Think that is everything.

Well whilst the mojo is going think I might see if I can get another card made!

Until next time xoxo

Anya Ink & Sketch Saturday

12 Nov

It has been so hot in Melbourne this week that I have struggled to find any mojo at all. I find when I sit down to make a card I struggle to come up with something. My great intentions of getting Christmas cards made the other day fell to the wayside as my book and the fan won me over. Last night sitting down to watch tv I realized there was absolutely nothing on (and I had finished my book) so off I went to my stamping corner and started. I decided to tackle this week’s Anya Ink challenge and the Sketch Saturday’s challenge.  Anya Inks challenge is to use Blue and Orange and here is the Sketch from Sketch Saturday:

  _76_7th_Nov

I nearly finished the card last night but was really struggling to embellish it. So I ended up putting it aside and going to bed.

After waking up this morning and walking Lizzie to school I came home feeling really refreshed so with a clear mind I sat down to finish the card. Here is the finished product:

 100_3000-1

I really did not want to embellish my card again with flowers so I looked at the bottom of my stamping stuff to discover my butterfly punch. I forgot how much I love this punch.  You can see I ended up embellishing the card using a butterfly and some wire. I have tried to make the butterfly look like it is in flight.

100_3005-1

I know this card does not contain a lot of orange (only the bow in the hat), but as I went through my stuff last night I discovered that I did not have too much orange papers laying about. There is blue with the lace and on the underside of the butterfly. The patterned paper is also a bluey-green colour. It looked more blue  in the light last night. I hope this will be ok.

So there you have it my latest creation. Think I may take Robbie out to get a milkshake soon, the luxury of living where we do is there are so many places to choose from.

I hope you all have a great day.

Until next time xoxo
