Tickled Pink.

23 May

What a great day I have had. My hubby woke me up this morning with a nice cuppa in bed which I got to enjoy with a book while smelling the bacon and eggs cooking. It was soooooo nice!!! He then decided that it was my day off (being a Sunday) and told me to go play with my cards while he went outside and played in the garden. I know very spoilt!!

Other than that I do not have much other interesting stuff to tell you so will pop straight into it and show you my card.

This card I have done is for the monthly challenge over at Tickled Pink and it is a sketch at that:

What do you think? I had to search the back of my drawers to find the eyelets, been so long since I have used one!

Other than that I have used Clara from the Kraftin Kimmie stamps, coloured her with my watercolour pencils, blue floral paper is Report Card by October Afternoon the other patterned paper is Glacier from Basic Grey, pearl pin from Quixotic, lace and ribbon was in my stash. I have lightly distressed the edges applied a little bit of faux stitching.

Well I am going to make a run for it now and go and have some cuddles with my little man.

I will be back later tonight with my GDT card for Anyone for Anya.

Until next time xoxo

A Thank You

18 May

If you are in Melbourne I hope you are enjoying the gorgeous weather today. I have been out and about and enjoying the feeling of the sunshine on my back (I reckon it has to be one of the best feelings).

The card I am showing you today is for my son’s wonderful teacher. Robbie has entered his schooling life this year and has had some difficulties but his teacher has been fantastic. We are so pleased that he has her and grateful for all the extra effort she has given. We are going to give her this card with a bunch of flowers to try and show our appreciation. I made this card yesterday afternoon but ran out of energy to do a post.

The card’s layout is based on this weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers:

I will also be entering this card into Quixotic Challenges – Let Your Garden Grow! Basically you had to make your own flowers. I came across a tutorial on how to make these flowers about a month ago and have been itching to give it a go. Unfortunately I can not give credit to where it belongs as I have lost my slip of paper that I had written it down on and it was not on one of my regular blogs as I have checked. If however you do know where the tut can be found please let me know so I can post a link here. Here is some close ups of the flower:

Being the toughest of critics that I am I am convinced the flower is too big and does not fit in well and think that I may remove it. In fact here is a pic without the flower tell me which you prefer?

I have used my watercolour pencils for colouring the image, October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket patterned papers, old olive Stampin Up cardstock, kaisercraft pearls, paper doily I got from local $2 shop, Sarah Kay stamp, Flowers Soft, sentiment from Kraftin Kimmie, scalloped punch and faux stitching.

Well I better dash only got ½ hour to get organized before need to pick up the kids from school.

Until next time xoxo

Cold, wet and windy day brings a card!

13 May

I hope this post find everyone well today.

It has been a cold wet horrible day here in Melbourne today so after being at school this morning I came home and felt like hibernating and making a card. Was very naughty of me to do as I was out all day yesterday, having fun though with Dee shopping at Ikea, so had not done any cleaning so in retrospect I should have been cleaning today not making a card. Oh well need to let it give sometimes!

Anyhow I will keep this quick as I have some soup and dinner on the stove that I need to tend too. Here is today’s card:

Unfortunately as the weather is so yuck when I tried to take the photo by the window it was too dark and now that I have put the flash on it has made the green look at lot brighter than what it actually is. It is for my brother, Ben, who’s birthday is in a few weeks. I always struggle with masculine cards so was happy that I actually managed to make one ahead of time.

I will be entering this card into the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenges – Buttons

Sketch & Stash – patterned paper new as well as one of my shades of grey copics

Stamp Something – Birthday Somethings

The paper I have used is from October Afternoon – Report Card, stamp is from Kraftin Kimmie, buttons I had in my stash, apron strings punch from Fiskars, ribbon and pearls from kaisercraft, spellbinders Nestabilities labels four, cardstock from Stampin Up, copic markers for colouring and last but not least some faux stitching.

Well I better dash.

Until next time xoxo

Quixotic Challenge – Case it

5 Apr

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter with their loved ones. Easter Bunny was thumping around our front garden about 4pm leaving out all the Easter eggs for the kids which just as well as they were in our room as soon as the sun started to come up, wanting to get out there.

We had a Michael’s grandmother around for a light lunch and then we went to my mum and dads house for an Easter dinner with my family. The kids now have so many Easter Eggs I think they will enough to last them till Christmas!

I managed to get a good clean in on Saturday as the kids went to Michael’s grandmothers for the day so because of that I have been spoilt and have been able to have a slow day today and make a card. Once again I was in pains as to which challenge I would take on but when I saw that this weeks challenge over at Quixotic was to case a DT Member I could not resist. I have always loved Elaine’s work and particularly really liked a card she recently made which you can find here. I loved the crispness of this card which is why I choose to case it. Elaine’s cards are always so fresh it was hard to pick one in particular to case.

And here is my version of the card.

The stamp is from Kraftin Kimmie, copics have been used for colouring (based on one of Elaine’s colouring of this image), Basil cardstock and ribbon I had in my draw. I have also used hairpin, beads and spacers which I brought from Quixotic a few weeks ago.

Anyhow I better go now as I need to go make a birthday cake for my son Robert, who is turning 6 tomorrow. We have my family coming for a roast tomorrow night and then on Sunday he has a party which he has invited 36 kids too (i think I must of been insane when I agreed to it)!

Until next time xoxo

A mixture of things….

21 Feb

Hi again. I know it has been over a week since my last post but I have had NO ENTHUSIASM to make cards this week. Not sure what it was but I would sit down with every intention to make a card and that would be as far as it would go. Admittedly I have been busy, having coffee with friends, LOL!

Friday Kirsty, Dee the boys and I went for a drive out to Paper 2 (about 1hr trip, one way) and I picked up some more papers. As I mentioned previously I love the cosmo cricket and October Afternoon papers at the moment. I think it is the patterns and colours that are appealing to me.

Yesterday I went to see Rob Thomas at Rochford Winery. He was fantastic and what a way to see him out in the open air. Now I am sure the ladies out there will agree with me when I say aaahhhh what a spunk!

So onto the card I have for you today. I ended up making this card with the paper I got on Friday and by following this weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers and challenge at Papertake Weekly (use checks or gingham).

I am happy with how the card came out although I did struggle. With my enthusiasm of wanting to use the papers and Chester I forgot how hard male cards are to embellish!! I think I managed to pull it off though!

What have I used? Paper from Cosmo Cricket, Lil’Man: Handsome Henry (both sides), Chester from Kraftin Kimmie, Copic markers, Spellbinders Nestabilities, sentiment from C.C. Designs Spring Kit purchased at All that Scraps, wire and buttons. You can see that I have also applied some faux stitching.

Well that is it for me today about to head out to my Mum and Dads for our family Sunday night dinner.

Until next time xoxo

Sketch and Stamp

12 Feb

I know I have said this a lot lately but where is the time going?

Robbie has enjoyed his first week of school (even if have been finishing at 1pm) and was so excited when I told him last night that he would be getting a Star of the Week award (the whole class got one but I don’t think this takes away from the excitement of it) at assembly today. I am looking forward to next week when he finishes the same time as Elizabeth as this week I feel like I have been watching the clock all the time.

On one of my blog surfs I stumbled across a challenge blog called Sketch and Stash challenge blog. They post a new sketch fortnightly which is the first part of the challenge and the second being using some new stash. Now I believe this gives me a really good reason to having to buy something new each fortnight!!!

I feel in love with this paper (my new stash) when I saw it a Paper Squared last week and have been itching to use it since then. It is Ever Dear from the Vintage Valentine collection by nancie rowe-janitz. I loved the simplicity of it. I have teamed it with some paper from kaisercraft, Bird Song together with some Kraft from Stampin Up. The image is from Kraftin Kimmie stamps and I have used my watercolour pencils once again. I have also added some faux stitching as well. I started this card on Wednesday night by colouring the image, did some more last night and finished it today. Taken me a while to make but was really struggling with embellishing. I am not over keen with the ribbon I have used but after trying everything that I owned as embellishment was the only thing I was happy with.

Well I better go as I will need to pick Elizabeth up from school soon. I hope you all have a great weekend and I will be back hopefully soon.

Until next time xoxo

Kraftin’ Kimmie meets Sketch Saturday

26 Jan

Hi all just a quick post today. Happy Australia Day to all my fellow Aussies!

My Chester from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps arrived last Friday and I have been aching to ink it up since then. I decided that I would partake in my first Kraftin’ Kimmie challenge, this week no embellishments, and combine it with this weeks sketch at Sketch Saturday:

So there you have it. I hope you like. Once again my bad photography has let the card down as I have not been able to capture the colours to well. The brown on the patterned paper does not have such a heavy orange tone.

Still school holidays here so been busy with children.

Will be back soon hopefully with some more for you.

 Until next time xoxo
