Mojo Monday

23 Feb

Hi all, just a quick post today as I need to scoot off soon to pick the kids up from school.

I came home from school this morning and had the enthusiasm to make a card, YEY!!! So I went straight to Mojo Monday as they always provide a great sketch.

This card also includes my entry into this weeks challenge over at Stamp Something, which is something spring. I think this card has a spring feel to it with the fairy sniffing the flowers, the flower on the lace and the contrast with colours of the paper, almost as the dark is going from winter to the green which is the start of spring. That’s my interpretation anyhow!

I picked up this paper a few weeks ago and it is by Graphic 45, Botanticabella Collection-Secret Garden. The stamp is fairy on tiptoes from Lili of the Valley Ltd, lace I had laying around in my stash, apron strings punch from fiskars, some faux stitching, distressing of the edges, pearls from kaisercraft and my watercolour pencils.

So there you have it. I hope you have all had a great start to the week. You never know tonight I may have some left over enthusiasm to make another card!

Until next time xoxo

Christmas cards..

22 Nov

Well we are definitely having some relief here in Melbourne from the hot weather. Thankfully we have had heavy soaking rain since last night which means hopefully our grass may survive a little longer for the year. I am feeling so much better with the change of weather that I think I will be able to create a bit more this week.

Thursday night I went and saw New Moon and absolutely loved it. I can not wait to go see it again and of course for the next installments to come out. I think I will have to download the soundtrack so can use the music as my muse.

Friday I had to take Robert to my sisters work, an orthodontics, as his bottom jaw is bigger than his top one resulting in a nasty cross bite which has caused his top teeth to be worn down. On the 17th December he will get his plate fitted and a face mask at night. The poor little might was so strong and brave even though stretching his mouth for the moulds was uncomfortable and hurt. The face mask looks very intrusive and we have tried to lighten it up a bit for him by saying wow look how cool it is but he just hid under my arms! As he is only 5 by doing this we will stop his second teeth from been worn down and hopefully prevent jaw surgery later in life.

Today Lizzie is off at a party and Michael has taken Robert to a historical Car Show, which means I have a few hours peace so after posting this I will be trying to make a card for this weeks Anya Ink challenge.

Yesterday I managed to make some Christmas cards, yey! I have done 8 of the same card which now means I have about ½ of what I need done. I wanted to do something quite basic so I picked a Mojo Monday sketch and went off on my merry way.

I have used Miss Clause from the Sugar Nellie range which you can purchase through Funky Kits for this card. I love this stamp and thought it would be good for some of my friends.

So there you have the card, basic but I think effective. I have used Stampin Up cardstock, my copics for colouring of the image, faux stitching, ribbon which I got from Kmart in the Christmas wrapping section, scallop punch from Stampin Up and Nestabilities and cuttlebug.

As I mentioned I am going to make the most of my quite time and the cooler weather and attempt the Anya Ink challenge. Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with a picture of my creation.

Until next time xoxo

Mojo Monday

18 Nov

Hello again everyone. I know I have been very lazy in the blogging world but I have really lost my Mojo. We have also had a busy week the time just seems to be going by quicker and quicker each day. Maybe it has been my own fault as I have been counting down to tomorrow night when I see New Moon. Aaahhhhh Edward LOL! I know that as a 31 year old lady I should not be so obsessed but it is such a wonderful escape.

I have been sitting down and making cards over the last couple of days but none of them were worthy enough to show you. Anyhow today I flicked over to Mojo Monday and saw their sketch and felt inspired. I ended up doing quite a basic card, as in not a lot of embellishing, and put it together in about 15 minutes plus coluring time. I like the card with the different colours and this little lady is just so cute. She reminds me of myself over the last week just sitting down and pondering about the lovely Edward!

So anyhow here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I told you she was cute. She comes from Inky Impressions. I love the details of the stamps, she even has tiny fingernails. All cardstock is from Stampin Up, whisper white, rose red, pink pirouette, sky blue and basic grey. The scallop and circle were cut using my Nestabilities from Spellbinders together with my cuttlebug. Ribbon is Sky Blue Stampin Up grosgrain ribbon. Coloring has been done using my copics. If you ever want to know what colours I use for my colouring let me know and I will happily share.

Anyhow I am off to have some dinner now. Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with something more to show you.

Until next time xoxo

Mojo Monday again

10 Nov

I cant believe how quickly the days just seem to be going past at the moment. We are going through a early heat wave here in Melbourne and I have to admit I am struggling with it. Yesterday I did have the chance to sit down but instead I choose to sit in front of the fan with a book, something I don’t do enough of these days.

After going to see the wonderful Dee’s today and seeing her two creations, which she has been doing at 10:30 at night, I got some inspiration. I am now going to colour some images and get something made hopefully before my favorite show, Packed to the Rafters, starts at 8:30.

Anyhow on the weekend I did manage to get the first batch of Christmas cards made. As much as I would love to give everyone an individually designed card I just don’t have time so I have decided to makes batches of 6 and then for my family and close friends I will make them an individually designed card. In my last post I mentioned that I would like to have another try of the Mojo Monday sketch so I did with these cards. I am very pleased with how they have come out this little bear is soooooo adorable.

You can see that I have used my trusty Stampin Up Cardstock (Red Riding Hood and Kiwi Kiss)  The stamp is designed by Gillian Roberts for Stampavie. I have used my copics for coluring, kindy glitz under the bear and on hat to give a shine feel (although photo does not really show it), kaisercraft rhinestones, sentiment from Stampin Up hostess set, swirls embossing folder with my cuttlebug and faux stitching.

That’s enough talking one has to go off and play!

Until next time xoxo

Mojo Monday

6 Nov

Last time I spoke to you all I was getting ready to go on a family holiday for a few days. It is hard to believe that it has been and gone and we have already been back for a day. Where does the time go?

The holiday was great we actually managed to just relax and enjoy ourselves as a family. We stayed at the RACV Resort in Inverloch Victoria ( a small costal town about 2.5 hours out of Melbourne) and was blown away by the luxury of it. The Villa exceeded our expectations and the resort was very family orientated which just made our time even better. It has lots of bbq areas, an oval, rope towers, playground, flying fox, swimming pool, tennis courts, recreation room…… Needless to say the kids had a ball trying everything out and of course spending a little time at the beach fishing with daddy. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us so beach time was limited but with all the facilities at the resort it did not matter that much. Here is a pic of my babies on the beach.

I know I am biased but I think they are beautiful.

So what have I for you today? Well this is my second attempt of the Mojo Monday sketch.

I really wanted to use a stamp that has come from Inky Impressions but really she was wrong for the layout. I ended up flipping the sketch around to make it work for me, which is what I know you are supposed to do but believe it or not it was so hard to do.  I found balancing the card out to be the hardest of all as you have the separate strip of colour down the bottom. Anyhow here is my take on the sketch:

I am happy with how it turned out but will be trying this sketch again using a different image. The stamp as I said is from Inky Impressions and is called Fairy Lili. She is adorable isn’t she? I have used paper from from kaisercraft and some certainly celery from Stampin Up. I have also used my cuttlebug embossing folder on the certainly celery cardstock to blend in with the patterned paper. I have done some faux stitching around the edges and used kaisercraft flowers and rhinestones for embellishing. The main image has been cut out and then mounted onto the shape, which I decorated by hand, from my spellbinders Labels Four set. I also use a bit of blue watercolour crayon around my image to give it a shadowing effect.

I think I have mentioned everything. I will hopefully be back in the next few days with some more cards to show.

Oh by the way if you live local Maxine’s has now got the entire range of Ciao Copic Markers in store. Be sure to stop on by and start your collection. The Ciao markers are the cheapest copics to buy. If you want some help with colour combinations please email me and I can let you know what I use. The general rule of the thumb is though to pick the colour you like and then buy one 2 shades darker and one 2 shades lighter. Which reminds me I colored the image using my caio copics!

Until next time xoxo

Anya Ink Challenge #4 & Mojo Monday 110

27 Oct

Hello everyone and welcome back if you are a regular reader and if you are a first time visitor then welcome to my blog.

Today the kids had their first dentist visit. I was not sure what to expect from the kids but they were very brave and well behaved. After the dental visit Elizabeth went to school and Robbie went to a friends house for a play so I had some time to play.

There are some many wonderful challenges this week that I did not know where to start. I ended up going with the Anya Ink challenge (as this is one of my fav challenge blogs) and incorporated it with this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch, as I loved the sketch as soon as I saw it. This is my third week of participating with the Anya Ink Blog. I love the fact that this blog is Australian it feels good to be part of something from here. The ladies over at Anya Ink have only just started this blog and will be choosing their third DT member from the entrants over the last month. I hope that I have made a good enough impression as it would be a dream to be part of something so wonderful.

This week the challenge was to use any number of circles, two ribbons and staples. So I set off this afternoon with this in mind and this is what I have come up with:

I love this Edward stamp from the Wild Sprouts collection but for some reason I keep sidetracking it when it comes time to make a card.  I have stapled the image circle to the scallop circle, requirement 1 & 2 checked off, and used a black and red ribbon together, last requirement checked off. Phew! The cardstock is real red, old olive, basic black from Stampin Up. I have used my copics for colouring the image and used my Uni-ball pens for stitching oh and for the outside stitching on the red cardstock I have also used my paper piercer. I also distressed all the edges of coloured cardstock. I really like the way this card has come out. As I have used contrasting colours and different directions I wanted to keep it simple and not over embellish the card.

So there it is my last chance too impress, keep your fingers crossed for me.

I also made some more cards last night which I will be back to show you soon.

Until next time xoxo

A bit of this and that.

20 Oct

We have had the best weather here in Melbourne today. The sun has been shining and everywhere you go there is people out and about. It is very motivating.

This morning I caught up with Kirsty and Dee for a coffee at the Soda House. As always it was great to catch up and have a good old yarn.

So my offerings today meet two challenges. The first being this weeks Mojo Monday sketch:

The second challenge it incorporates is the very first challenge at the new Totally Gorjuss blog. This weeks challenge was to use pink and of course one of the wonderful Gorjuss Girls stamps. As I have previously told you I am in love with these little girls so making a ccard with them is never a challenge.

I have used the Bumble Bee Gorjuss Girl stamp which you can purchase through Funky Kits, Pretty in Pink & Wild Wasabi Stampin Up cardstock. I have used my copics for colouring and some ribbon I had laying around. The sentiment is my trustworthy stamp from Impression Obsession, Inc and the flower rhinestones are Kasiercraft.

The next card I have to show you is one that I made last week using one of my new Christmas stamps. I love this snowman and I can not wait to make some more cards with him soon. I made the card just for fun and not following any challenges. When I first finished the card I was not too sure on it but it has grown on me as the week has passed hence why I am now happy to share it with you. The snowman is from the Homegrown category of Sugar Nellie range which you can purchase from Funky Kits and the cardstock as always is Stampin Up, Always Artichoke. The paper I got from Maxine’s last week and is from the Belle Collection by Kaisercraft. I used my Stampin Up watercolors for the colouring of the image.

I will be back tomorrow to show you some more stuff I have been playing with.

Until next time xoxo
